Introduction
DBZ-Dune is a space/fantasy Roleplaying game that takes place in the fictional universes of Dragonball Z, Dune, and borrows from to a lesser extent as players wish, Star Trek, Star Wars, Gundam, Street fighter, Cowboy Bebop, X-men, Veritas, Code Geass, Mortal Kombat, etc.

The Game is backed by a statistical system to gauge player's personal battling strength and property/resources and determine the outcomes of player's actions. The game is also Play by post RP, meaning the actions taken are role-played through text.
In Role-playing it is important to keep IC knowledge and OOC knowledge separate. In-Character knowledge is things your character knows, Out-of-Character knowledge is thing that you know. If you OOCly know that by pulling Leroy's tail he will freeze, but you don't know that ICly, your character shouldn't take actions based on your OOC knowledge.
In Role-playing it is important in situations dealing with other characters not to God-mod or announce the outcome of any action. You may announce your character's attempt at an action, but not the outcome for instance;
Paul Atredies pulled his lasgun from the holster and immolated the sand-demon's face.
Paul Atredies pulled his lasgun from his holster and fired off two rounds, aiming for the sand-demon's face, in an attempt to immolate it.
This gives the sand-demon a chance to respond with his RP

Stats
Whether or not Paul hit the sand-demon is based on player character statistics. Statistics are placed into six categories;
Strength (STR)
Endurance (END)
Willpower (WIL)
Intelligence (INT)
Speed (SPD)
Awareness (AWR)
These stats determine a character's ability, and for the most part should be self-explanatory. All of the actions a character takes are based on these stats. If a character was going to score well on a test it would be determined based upon his INT. If a character was trying to detect someone's presence in a 50 ft radius it would be determined by his AWR.
Your Stats can be used to determine how you might play, and what kind of situation a character will excel in.

Champion and Strategic modes of combat
There are roughly two modes of combat and infinite forms of interaction. The first style of combat is 'Champion' style combat. Champion combat refers to physical combat between two or more warriors. In the world of DBZ-Dune, with some effort on the part of the character, the 'mortal limit' can be ascended and character's can engage in superhuman or supramortal actions. This requires alot of physical and mental mastery training on the part of the character.
Only one out of a million members of a humanoid species ascend the mortal limit and gain powers like the Kwisatz Haderach or Dragonball-era Goku. This requires natural skill and dedicated effort on the part of the character. There are thousands of members of each species striving to 'ascend', in the form of martial artists, warriors, kings, aristocrats, monks, seers, sages, and shamans 9or any other thing a player wishes).
Once a humanoid ascends the fate of a region, continent, planet, or even galaxy can depend on just a few ascended warriors. Champion style combat is this situation when a few high powered beings engage in one on one battle.
The second situation is Strategic Command combat. This is the combat of the starship commander, aristocrat, emperor, tactician, or general. This situation can be anything from a battle between two starships, to several types of surface troops, battle machines, starships, etc. engage in pitched combat for control of an area or it's resources.
Stats effect both these modes of combat, all stats effecting Champion combat in some way or another, Strategic Command combat utilizing mainly INT, WIL, AWR.

How and where to Begin RPing
DBZ-Dune consisted of different types of RP activity. First there are player initiated topics. These can be player to player RP topics, Training topics or just fooling around IC. Topics initiated by the player can be awarded by GMs if they have exceptional material. The player may also RP training, which receives cumulative awards once per week. The second is GM initiated topics, or Scenarios. GM initiated topics began with an OOC topic allowing players to sign up for the Scenario. Usually any player may join, but there may be requirements based on character strength and faction. At the end of the Scenario the surviving players are rewarded for good RP. The third are Events and are usually integral to the core story arc. Events involve plot movement that effects key players and requires GM Moderation for Champion or Strategic combat possibly involving multiple characters and/or NPCs of different factions. The final is Duels which involves 'Champion' style combat between two characters and requires Moderation.
For Review:
1.) Player Initiated, (one or more players RPing without Mods)
2.) Scenarios, (a group of players accomplish something together with a GM guiding and facilitating the RP)
3.) Events, (a group of players participate in an event that will shape RP in their world, together or opposing each other, guided by Mods and GMs)
4.) Duels, (two players melee with a Mod rolling and determining outcomes)
--------------------------------------------
In DBZ-Dune virtually anything is possible and you can RP as nearly any type of character imaginable. Welcome and I hope you have fun RPing.
